July Mission Emphasis

For those traveling to Tulsa in medical crisis, Hospitality House provides a home away from home with lodging, meals, transportation, laundry services, and prayer support.  Since opening their doors in 2006, they have helped over 18,000 people from all 77 counties in Oklahoma, 48 states in the U.S., and 9 foreign countries. We invite you to join us in our mission and get involved today!

There are many different opportunities for individuals, couples, and small groups to help with the mission of Hospitality House.  Some of the ways you can get involved are:

  • Welcome Center/Day Room Hosts:
    • Assist staff with daily activities in the Welcome Center and Day Room, including checking guests in and out, preparing and delivering meals, laundry, answering phones, routine apartment checks, housekeeping, office work, mailings, and more. Daily volunteer activities depend on the volunteer's personal preference, skills, and talents.
    • Shifts are flexible and normally are scheduled in 2-3 hour increments (i.e. 9-11, 12-3, etc). Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Sunday.
  • Prayer and Card Ministry Volunteers:
    • We offer prayer support for our families, which 90 percent of the family's request upon checking into Hospitality House. Volunteers can come in and pray over the prayer cards and write encouraging notes to the families, which we leave in the apartments for them to read when they get home from a stressful day at the hospital. Volunteers wanting to pray over prayer cards or write notes can come in any time during Welcome Center hours and do so (Mon-Sat 9-5; Sun 1-5).
  • Meals of Love:
    • The Meals of Love program is a great way to get involved with our mission to provide a "home away from home" for families caring for loved ones in medical crisis. After all, nothing says "home" better than a home-cooked meal prepared by people who truly care. Apart from the love and support these families feel by receiving the meals, there is also a great financial burden taken off these families during their struggle by having meals provided. Meals may be prepared at home or in our Day Room kitchen, and either dropped off at the Welcome Center or delivered to the families' apartment refrigerators. You can help to provide meals for Hospitality House families, monthly, quarterly, or whenever works with your schedule!
  • Lodgingly Prayer Support:
    • Lodgingly is a program of Philos Hospitality, Inc., a nonprofit ministry that provides lodging, meals, prayer support, and more for families traveling for medical care. Lodgingly offers deeply discounted hotel rooms near hospitals for patients and families needing to stay close to loved ones receiving treatment. In addition, guests have access to restaurant discounts, prayer support, local transportation resources, and pet-friendly hotel options.
    • Lodgingly Prayer Support is a ministry designed to bring comfort, hope, and encouragement to guests during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. When guests check in, they may choose to fill out a Prayer Support Card, and their requests are shared through the Lodgingly Digest, a daily email sent to prayer volunteers.
  • Special Events:
    • If you love events, and helping out in unique areas, then this may be for you! Each year, Hospitality House has fundraising events that we are always looking for more creative talent and expertise to help.
