Cross+Training 2.0 Update

WHAT IS THE GOAL?

To equip the church under the guiding principles of TruthTraining, and Togetherness.

To integrate men and women into cross-generational gospel relationships.

To grow together in Christ throughout the week.

WHAT IS CROSS+TRAINING?

Cross+Training is one of the primary ways we encourage one another to grow as disciples of Jesus through biblical discussion and meaningful relationships.Over the years we've heard from many people who wanted to participate in Cross Training but simply couldn't make Wednesday nights work. Some work evenings. Some have family schedules that conflict. Others serve in Kids or Student Ministry and miss the opportunity to be part of a group themselves. Rather than expecting everyone to come to one place at one time, we're taking Cross+Training into homes, coffee shops, workplaces, and communities all across the Tulsa metro. Our goal is simple: make disciples in a way that's more flexible, more relational, and more accessible.

This Fall, instead of everyone meeting together every Wednesday, Cross+Training groups will meet throughout the week at times and locations chosen by group leaders. Each group will have about five to seven people, will be men's or women's groups, and will be led by a trained facilitator. For example, one men's group might meet Tuesday mornings before work at a coffee shop. Another women's group might gather Thursday evenings in someone's home. Some groups may still choose to meet on Wednesday evenings here at the church while Kids and Students are meeting. The point isn't when or where your group meets. The point is that people are consistently gathering around God's Word and investing in one another.

This semester every group will walk through the same material together: Remember and Rehearse by JT English. This book is an excellent training resource on seeing God’s full overarching story through Biblical covenants and how our stories today tie into God’s story. A brief 3-5 minute teaching video will be supplied each week introducing the material for everyone to view prior to your group’s meeting. Each meeting will last about an hour to an hour and a half. You'll spend a few minutes catching up and caring for one another, then discussing the week's chapter along with a set of questions and discussion prompts. Then you'll close by praying for one another and the week ahead. It's simple, relational, and intentional to help Arrow Heights grow as disciples of Jesus Christ together.

Over the next month, groups will be available for you to sign up based on the day, time, and location that works best for you. We'll all gather together for one kickoff celebration on Sept. 9 before groups begin meeting throughout the week, and we'll come back together in December to celebrate what God has done.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THIS MEET?

Cross+Training provides an opportunity for adults to participate in ongoing Biblical equipping. Cross+Training does not replace Sunday morning Small Groups but allows our church family to be trained outside of the normal Sunday morning setting for a longer period of time. Because of the multi-generational nature of Cross+Training groups, we hope relationships will develop that lead to individual discipling connections. This is one way we are investing in men and women uniquely in our church family.
